He Works Through the Waiting

Do you dislike being told to wait? Do you struggle with impatience in your restlessness? Does it seem like God isn’t propelling you forward at the pace you would like or expect?

There is something to be said for “waiting”.  Though we often don’t like the process of waiting, if we open our eyes we just might see that God is working through our wait.

We are a fickle humankind.  We want what we want, when we want it.  We set unattainable time restraints on our achievements.  We think that what we pray for should suddenly appear.

What about what God wants for our lives?

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

If we believe in His word, if we believe this verse, then we should learn to trust that He knows what is best for us and His timing is best.  By believing this, perhaps we would be more content to sit in our quietness for a bit longer and let Him continue to work He is doing behind the scenes. When we feel as if nothing is happening, trust that our Father is at work in our lives.  He is shaking out the wrinkles and smoothing out the rough spots that lie in our path, making our way more attainable.

He is bringing light into the dark shadows and opening doors that were once bolted. There is never a moment when He isn’t hard at work on our behalf.  There is not a single second that we are forsaken.

Trust His timing.  Trust His process. Look at your waiting time as a wonderful opportunity to draw closer to the One who loves you the most.  Use your waiting time as seeking time and not a moment will be wasted.
