When “Yes” Is Best

The Struggle to Juggle Series PART FIVE

Unless you have your Superwoman cape hidden in your closet, you are going to need help sometimes.  Why is it so hard for us women to accept help? We have this idea that we should be able to “do it all” and not need any assistance.

Even the Proverbs 31 woman couldn’t do it alone!

She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. ~ Proverbs 31:15

Here is something to consider… why would we think that we don’t need help, when even Jesus had help? He had a team of twelve that assisted him almost everywhere he went!  Ladies, I ask you… since when are we mightier than Jesus?

I have been that person. The one to say, “I got it.” The one that would reply when help was offered, “That’s okay.”  I’m not sure if it was done out of a need to be independent, or a desire to show my strength.  Perhaps it was nothing but pure stubbornness.

Either way, I have learned a valuable lesson in life…we all need help sometimes, and that is okay.

Consider this:  Do you like to help others?  Do you find satisfaction and joy from making a difference, big or small, for someone else? If you truly understand the joy that comes from being a helper, why would you shortchange someone from experiencing that joy by helping you?

What about God?  Do you seek His help in your times of feeling overwhelmed, stressed and uncertain?  He is our greatest helpmate, if we let Him.  But so often we look to everyone and everything BUT God.

Ladies, we need to let others help us carry our burdens.  Needing help is NOT a sign of failure or weakness.  It is a part of God’s grace to help you through each day.  And even more importantly, we need to let God carry our burdens.  He needs to be our ultimate source of help at all times.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. ~ Psalm 46:1
