Stay Healthy
The Struggle Juggle Series PART SEVEN
First and foremost, a mom trying to balance life needs to get enough sleep. If you aren’t rested and healthy, you aren’t going to be able to balance your responsibilities to your family, your job, your church, or anywhere else.
Without good rest, you will not be able to focus wholeheartedly on your prayer, your bible study, your quiet time with the Lord.
“She girds herself with strength and strengthens her arms. Proverbs 31:17 ~
Take time for yourself – a bubble bath, a walk, reading, prayer & meditation…whatever relaxes you. It is perfectly okay to have some “me” time.
Better “me” equals better “mom”
What about exercise? Do you go to the gym? Do you workout at home? Maybe you like walks or running, or maybe you enjoy a bike ride. It is great the way we can combine exercise and family time. Gather your people together and go for a bike ride or a nice long walk through the neighborhood. Not only will you be together and exercising, you will also create an awesome opportunity for conversation.
There is so much you can do together as a family — tennis, hiking, swimming, baseball, basketball, frisbee, kite flying. You can get really creative with your family exercise time!
You might say, “I just prefer to workout by myself at the gym.” That is okay too, as long as working out doesn’t take priority over your family. You don’t want to spend so much time at the gym that you miss out on the important times with them.
Thought and attention also needs to be given to food choices. This helps us keep our body healthy and helps us honor this “temple” that God has given us to serve Him.
Give it some thought and some prayer, and you will find what fits best for you and your family. Ask God to guide you to the appropriate decision. And remember, taking care of yourself is not just essential for you to be the best you can be for your family, it is also important because you are setting a healthy example for your children to follow.
